Helpful reminder to take the few minutes you have at your desk and do something useful for your company.  Go to www.completemediainc.com/wired and check out the domains for your company website.  Notice how cheap they are?  Yeah, that’s the pricing for an entire year.  Now either get a couple or suggest to your boss that they go to this site and do it.

Here’s a couple reasons why:  First, it’s one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) ways to direct many people down many different roads to your business.  Sure, you may do a lot of interior decorating, but many will only search for “Sioux Falls Curtains” or “Painters in South Dakota” and you are FAR more likely to be seen by such people.  So think, what specific reasons would a customer approach you for – and then get a matching domain that can direct them to your existing site.

Second, we live in a dot.com world, but it’s changing.  If you have a .net or .info or .org kind of domain, check if you can get the .com version.  Currently it’s the one most people type in first, even if you have your .biz address sitting in front of them!  On the flip side, if you have a .com domain, don’t cut short the importance of having the other versions as well.  This is mostly to protect you from having a competing business or mad employee buy it.  Then you have no control over what they will post or try to ride off your marketing dollars.  And yes, they could do it better than you and even appear higher up on search engines if they try hard enough. 

So go pick out a couple and help your business out in this quite inexpensive way!
